Movie Research: M3GAN

   1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?    M3GAN incorporates many elements that our group has chose to base our final task on. For one, it stars a lonely young girl, who seems to have lost everything. The movie seems to have the perfect amount of suspense, which will 100 percent be used in our project. Darker lighting was another thing that stood out during this movie, adding to the skeptical feeling of the audience. Our final task will be heavily based on all of these conventions, which M3GAN seems to incorporate well.    2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?    Although M3GAN is a horror movie, it still uses comedy. Sometimes rather dark, but appealing to the audience as it reassures them that it is still something that they should enjoy. We are also a fan on how it has a deeper meaning than the one presented, which is how to deal with grief. It isn't apparent, so nothi

Movie Research: Scream VI

  1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? Scream VI focuses on many elements related to the final task which includes involving a mystery surrounding the killer's identity, with twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the audience guessing, and explicit violence and gore, "Scream" films typically include creatively staged and visually impactful kill scenes, and the whodunit element.  2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I liked the use of dry humor like having the killer try making jokes while trying to kill the victims and its use of pop culture references. I also liked the mystery and whodunit about which character was the killer/killer.  3. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?  I didn't enjoy how there wasn't a lot of character development, and how they had unrealistic plot points that made me feel the

Movie Research: Totally Killer

 1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The movie "Totally Killer" has many conventions that relate to what our final task is. It is trying to solve a murder mystery surrounded by the death of her mom by going back in time to find the killer before her mom gets killed. This theme is mostly revolved around what we are doing.  The movie has a lot of abandoned sets, dark lighting, gore, weapon props, etc, which similarly explains the idea for our final task.  2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? I loved how it was comparing the new age to the old age. The time travel plot really adds to the thrill of the horror aspect. I also love watching horror movies with jump scares because they engage the audience, which this movie definitely has. The costumes of the main characters were amazing as well as the makeup to represent the 80's and the 21st century. I also loved the comedy

Our Decision!

Collectively, we have decided to fall under the horror genre. The reason for this is because we believe that this genre will perfectly capture all aspects of the film we are planning to incorporate. The final task is only two minutes, but with horror, it is easy for the purpose to come across in a short period of time. With what we are basing our movie off of, it will add an eerie feeling, making it more intriguing to the audience. Horror will define the threatening situation our characters will be in and will keep the audience on the edge of their seat. Our group also feels that horror is not only fun to watch, but also fun to construct. All of this came into play when deciding our genre, horror.

Pitch Blog - Final Task

Pitch A: A serial killer is in town, and a girl is the next victim, but she never left her bed.   Pitch B: A girl joins a dating app, but meeting her "dream guy" quickly goes south.  Discuss Pitch A- Our group quickly came up with many filming ideas for this pitch. The different props and locations we would be using are easy to access. There happens to be a common theme in this idea, which seems to be something our group takes particular interest in. All of us would be a part of the acting, whether a main or side character. This enables us to do something we are all interested in and feel included in the film.   Discuss Pitch B- Although this idea seemed great in theory, considering the fact we are all under 18, accessing a dating site will be near impossible. It also was very difficult to streamline what the context of the film was going to be. However, the reason for wanting to do this was simply because of how interesting the idea would be. This time, it did seem harder

Intro Blog - Final Task

Hey blog! I'm back again.  I'm a sophomore at Fort Lauderdale High School. Attending high school  gave me a lot of opportunities as a person. For starters, I play volleyball and I have been playing for over 3 years. Being on the team has brought many people into my life who have been the best people to be  around with every day after school. Someday I would also really like to start playing lacrosse which is a new sport I'm trying out! Academic-wise, I'm involved with a ton of business classes. I have taken marketing since freshman year which is what I want to pursue in with my future.  One thing that does quite bring me down is math, I've always disliked math even when I do get it. Walking into my math class is one of the lowest parts of my day but I won't let it stop me from bringing me down. I also am involved with a ton of volunteering! Over the summer I attended a church camp where I was a waitress and I made deep connections with my peers and learned a l

Group Blog - Final Task

Hi y'all! It's Rowyn and after a while... I'm back! Today I am going to talk about my group for the final task! My group consists of two girls and a guy in my class, Kylie, Mia, and Aidan. Originally, Mia and Kylie were my groupmates for the music video but we decided to expand and add Aidan to our project. This decision will be great because with four people there are a lot of things we can do. It gives us a ton of advantages. The last project was amazing with Mia and Kylie but the opportunities are endless now. We all work very hard and we are very determined. We believe that we can make a really cool film together. We don't know what are roles would be yet, but we will plan something extraordinary for sure. We were thinking maybe a horror/thriller but we still need to plan what we would do for that genre. We pitched a couple of ideas last class but mainly focused on the group. We didn't get too much time to plan, but tomorrow in class we will see examples of pre
