Pitch blog - Final task

Image
Pitch A: Someone starts recieving strange text messages or video calls that seem to predict the future -- or reveal a hidden truth.  Pitch B: A person recieves a mysterious box with one single instruction: "Don't open until midnight." Discussing Pitch A: I tried choosing pitches that would be easy to film since I'm independently. This pitch is inspired by the movie Final Destination. The action of envisioning future events and seeing them happen right with your own eyes has always been some of my favorite psychological plots. Final Destination and the second one were watched last year and it was something I planned on doing last year for my final task but I decided to try and see a pitch I could suggest for this year.  Discussing Pitch B: I took the easy path with this pitch. I believe that this was something super simple yet thrilling. I believe the idea as a pitch sounds bland but it would have a deeper meaning on film. I had a vision with this and had the ongoing ...

The Ups and Downs of working alone..

Image
Hey y'all! It's Rowyn, and today I will be focusing on the start of my film + how I chose to film!     Firstly, as shown from last year I did both my music video and final task with an amazing group with me, Kylie, Mia, and Aidan. We filmed an awesome final task together and we worked very efficiently. However, there are many changes being made this year and I have decided to take the hard-work path and work alone.      Yes, I know its a shocker but I really wanted to be independent this year and I thought this was the way to go. I did originally have a group planned but we all had different ideas for this film and we collectively decided that it wasn't going to work out. I would be lying if I said that it wasn't scary to work independently.. I have full responsibility for everything. I'm responsible for all of the filming, editing, research, and on top of all of that, maintaining a balance with all of this and other schoolwork and my ...

Creative Critical Reflection - Final Task

 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  Answer:       This product utilizes conventions in horror and thriller movies. We used camera angles, music, editing, and dialogue that are commonly used in movies like this. For example, this product has scenes that are close-ups which are used in horror films to show fear in characters or to show what may be happening to change the viewer's focus while watching. In this scene right here we used a close-up to show the killer show that the audience can feel how close the killer was to the main character without her knowing. Almost as a dramatic irony. When the characters don't know what may be going on but the audience does. Overall, the product was truly a thriller because of the amount of suspense it had. Each scene kept building up which is usually what horror/thriller films use. But it does challenge conventions because of costumes. In this scene h...

Re-Edit: Final Task

Image
Hey y'all! welcome back to my blog! Today we are re-editing. Maybe I would put an exclamation mark after that sentence but let me tell you... it takes a long time to edit. Am I excited? yes and no. But the only thing that's keeping me going is the fact that after this we are DONE with the final task! Ok, first things first we had to change the audio. I know I'm sad too because I felt like I found the most perfect audio on YouTube. The reason for this change is because I was making sure it was copyright free and I guess it's not? I mean the title on the video says it is but I checked the comments and got so upset. People said when they used this for their videos they got a copyright strike so I went with my gut and chose a different copyright audio. Then after screen recording the new audio I applied it to the film. It actually went way better with the video than the previous audio I used. Another thing I did was that I applied a green screen effect to the news reporter...

Re-Shoot: Final Task

Image
Hey y'all! We are getting super close to the deadline for the final task! Although I said that the video was ready to go there, I kept re-watching it and noticing the little things that my group and I wanted to change. I talked about it with the group and everyone else agrees. I wanted to change the 8th and 9th scene. This is because in the 8th scene. I'm talking to the cops and you can see my super unserious face originally. Aidan kept messing up his line and it was super funny and the original time we filmed I kept laughing until he got it right. I pointed this scene out and we got right to planning for the next time we will meet to re-shoot it. The next day after school we met up at my house again. We got into our original outfits we had on and got right to re-shooting scene 8. After what felt like MANY tries... we finally got it right. Am I super satisfied with this scene? meh. But I'm glad we pointed out something that bothered us and took effect to change it. Y...

Peer-Reviewed Final Task!

Image
What's up y'all! Now that we have our final task completed it is time to show it to others! I had 3 of my friends fully watch it. My friends Mela, Lindsay, and Emerson. They too just completed their film and also asked me to review there's and lets say that there's was amazing! But now I asked for their opinion on mine.       First I showed my friend Lindsay. The video started and she said that she loved our title and credits font. Her reasoning behind this was because it truly brought the film together. Another thing she said was that she loved my acting. It was funny in most parts but she couldn't imagine someone else doing it.       Second I showed my friend Mela. She was kind of confused about the plot in the beginning but in the end she understood. She said she loved our editing and effort we put into it.       And lastly I showed my friend Emerson, and she LOVED it. She said that she loved our a...
